Richard Ray Perez has a deep, personal connection to the subject matter addressed in Cesar’s Last Fast. For 22 years Mr. Perez’s father was a farmworker who labored under and lived in the conditions Cesar Chavez fought to end. In addition to his work on Cesar’s Las Fast, Mr. Perez directed, produced and photographed the seminal political documentary Unprecedented: The 2000 Presidential Election, an official selection at over 50 international film festivals and the project that helped launched Public Interest Pictures and Brave New Films, the company for which Mr. Perez has since directed, produced or executive produced 3 documentary series and numerous documentary shorts.
